| Description | A PIRATE'S LIFE was created and developed by award-winning, independent film production company Icarus Arts & Entertainment which is best known for feature documentary film work, but has been branching out into docu-based reality TV over the past two years. Icarus A&E's most recent reality creation, Knights of Mayhem, will air on National Geographic in Fall 2011. A PIRATE'S LIFE is a documentary-based reality show about The MacKay Pirate Family, Golden Age pirates living in modern times, and their pirate mates. Unlike their raping and pillaging ancestors, these modern-day pirates are focused on giving back via art, entertainment, culture, charity, and living history. The MacKays are pirate reenactors, artist, artisans, and entrepreneurs. The father is a master hatter, crafting authentic pirate hats in his traditional haberdashery. The mother is an author and illustrator of pirate-themed children's books. She also designs functional mermaid swim tails. Together, the run their online businesses Captain Jack's Pirate Hats and The Pirate Trading Co. They are also very active in the pirate reenactor community, the father holding several leadership positions within various piratical guilds. First and foremost, The MacKays are a family. but their non-traditional approach to family life is like nothing you've ever seen. |

| Plot Outline | A PIRATE'S LIFE will highlight the exploding sub-culture of pirate reenactment enthusiasts through the day to day lives of “The MacKay Pirate Family” and the community they’re a part of which is made up of talented swordsmen, marksmen, sailors, artisans, artists and musicians. We’ll prominently feature many of these fine Rogues who, like the MacKays, actually make their living from the pirate life and are focused on giving back to their communities through art, entertainment, culture, charity, and living history. We’ll sail the high seas with The MacKays to dozens of pirate festivals in exotic locales around the world. We’ll also follow these modern-day pirates home to see how they function in our world, as pirate parents in the suburbs. |
